Pivotal Innovation in Energy Storage
Speaker: Donald R. Sadoway, John F. Elliott Professor of Materials Chemistry, Massachusetts Institute of Technology
Keynote Overview: When it comes to tomorrow's grid, storage is critical to widespread integration of renewables. Yet the inherent intermittency of renewables such as solar and wind present challenges for contribution to base load. Dr. Donald R. Sadoway will present the groundbreaking work being done in his MIT lab on the liquid metal battery, which offers colossal current capability and long service lifetime at a very low cost. Dr. Sadoway will also share his view of energy storage in the future and what lies ahead in batteries for electric vehicles.
